Chromatic Excess: maxjenny!’s Glassworks Break the Mold

Maxjenny (b. Sweden) – Artist & Designer

Maxjenny Forslund is a Copenhagen/Stockholm-based multidisciplinary designer and artist whose creative roots lie in fashion and scenography. With a practice that spans textiles, print, object design, and spatial installations, Maxjenny works at the intersection of visual storytelling, craftsmanship, and material experimentation.

Her latest series of glass sculptures — informally known as Pumpkins handmade by Reijmyre Glasbruk — explores the tension between soft organic volume and the hard permanence of glass. Each piece is hand-blown, yet animated with individual character: voluptuous, colorful, and unapologetically expressive. The forms recall both botanical growths and baroque body landscapes, where color and curvature take on a life of their own. These sculptures are not vessels, but rather emotive, bodily presences — each one unique, tactile, and imbued with a sense of movement.

Maxjenny’s artistic language rejects the restraint often associated with Scandinavian design in favor of a vibrant maximalism: rich in color, joy, contradiction, and energy. Her background in high fashion is evident in the sculptural approach to form, but it’s reframed here in glass — a medium she uses to challenge notions of utility, beauty, and surface.

With PumpkinsMaxjenny continues her exploration of the boundaries between art and design, craft and culture, form and feeling — always with a deep respect for process, play, and provocation.
